[ ------- (daughter of?)] Kleom[ -- ] Hermaios son of Molesis, her husband, for (his) affection.

Funerary column, found and documented by Bean and Schindler in 1966 at a field in Elmalı Yurt (formerly Pırnaz).

Height: 94 cm; diameter: 31 cm; letters: 2.5- 4 cm.

Schindler 1972, no. 25 (pl. 4.20); Milner 1998, p. 4, no. 4.2.

L. 3 : The inscription was not well-preserved when Bean and Schindler found it, and the stone was broken at the top (cf. the photo in Schinlder, op. cit. pl. 4.20). It is not clear therefore how many lines are missing in the beginning. Even supposing that only one line has been destroyed, that space would suffice for the wife's name before Κλεομ[--]. There is therefore no reason to assume with Schindler that the characters in l. 3 form ed part of the wife's name. Feminine names beginning with Κλεομ[̣--] are extremely rare. Instead, those letters probably belonged to her father's name which could be, for example, Κλεόμαχος, Κλεομένης, Κλεόμβροτος, Κλεομήδης, Κλεομέδων etc.

L. 4-5 : Ἑρμαῖος: see no. 71. Μόλεσις: no. 72. On the name of the deceased placed in the accusative see no. 35.
